“The attached painting is a representation of the island of Sicily. On my many trips there, I have been fascinated by the colors. The blues, greens, teals and aqua of the seas, which surround it and the hot yellow orange sun, which is always shining. The people are also interesting shades of color, varying from the lightest beige to the deepest mahogany. I have tried to honor Sicily's greatest artist Antonello da Messina by incorporating one of his enigmatic portraits into my work. The medium is mixed, collage and acrylics The island is a place of great beauty and mystery and has been the source of many of my paintings, all with sun theme predominating.” Vance Fazzino
